The Lumin Fae

Light & Order — The Radiant Court

◆

Lore of the Court

Overview

◆

The Lumin Fae are natural leaders and sometimes fail to understand why their leadership is not always welcomed by those they lead. This is not arrogance exactly — they genuinely believe stability is a gift, and they genuinely offer it. They simply have not fully internalized that gifts require the recipient's consent to be gifts rather than impositions.

Radiant skin that emits a faint warm glow. Wings of concentrated light so bright they are difficult to look at directly in darkness. Gold and white tones with occasional silver at the feather edges. In a dim room, a Lumin Fae is the light source. They cannot fully turn this off and have largely stopped trying.

In Lumeris, Lumin-aligned Fae occupy positions in established institutions, governance, and protective roles where structure is valued. They are welcomed in formal political settings, sought-after as advisors, and quietly resented when their advice carries the invisible assumption that they already know what you should do. Both things are true simultaneously and they are working on it.

Children of Radiance

◆

The Lumin Fae emit a burst of blinding radiant energy in a ten-foot radius — enemies take radiant damage equal to their level and must succeed on a CON save or be blinded until the end of their next turn. For one minute, they emit a gentle healing aura that restores one HP to all allies within ten feet at the start of each turn. Light Sense makes them impossible to surprise and grants advantage on all perception checks — they are never without light and never without awareness. Divine Order provides advantage on saves against manipulation, corruption, and enchantment. Their Radiant Aura passively grants nearby allies +1 AC as long as the Lumin Fae remains conscious.

Racial Traits

Radiant Pulse

Emit a burst of blinding radiant energy in a 10-foot radius. Enemies take radiant damage equal to your level; CON save or blinded until end of their next turn.

Healing Glow

For 1 minute, emit a gentle healing aura. Allies within 10 feet regain 1 HP at the start of each of their turns.

Light Sense

Cannot be surprised. Advantage on all perception checks. Passive light emanates from you — you are never without illumination.

Divine Order

Advantage on saves against manipulation, enchantment, corruption, and coercive magic. Immune to magically induced alignment shifts.

Radiant Aura

Allies within 5 feet gain +1 AC from the protective light you emit. This bonus is lost if you are incapacitated.

Advantages

  • ▲Radiant Pulse — deal radiant damage and blind nearby enemies
  • ▲Healing Glow — passive healing aura restoring 1 HP per turn to all nearby allies
  • ▲Light Sense — cannot be surprised; always illuminated
  • ▲Divine Order — resistance to enchantment, corruption, and coercive magic
  • ▲Radiant Aura — passive +1 AC to all allies within 5 feet

Disadvantages

  • ▼Shadow vulnerability — darkness-based magic and shadow effects deal bonus damage
  • ▼Cannot hide — passive light emission makes stealth essentially impossible
  • ▼Authority assumption — perceived paternalism creates social friction with independence-minded races
  • ▼War of Veils legacy — Gloam Fae and neutral Courts carry historical tension into any interaction
